Exceptional Mid-Century Double-Strand Akoya Pearl Necklace 18K Gold Emeralds and Diamonds

An elegant mid-century double-strand Akoya cultured pearl necklace distinguished by an exceptional hand-fabricated diamond and natural emerald clasp in 18 karat gold.

Composed of 134 beautifully matched cultured Akoya pearls, arranged as two strands of 65 and 69 pearls respectively, the necklace features pearls measuring approximately 8.0–8.5 mm. The pearls display a rich cream-white body colour with attractive rosé overtones and very good lustre, creating a refined and luminous appearance.

The centrepiece is an exceptional 18 karat white and yellow gold clasp, expertly hand-fabricated and designed as an elegant open oval link. It is set with natural calibre-cut emeralds and approximately 1.00 carat total of natural brilliant-cut diamonds. More than simply a fastening, the clasp is an architectural jewel in its own right, displaying the refined engineering and craftsmanship associated with fine European jewellery workshops of the mid-20th century.

The necklace has recently been professionally serviced by our workshop. The clasp has been sympathetically refinished, the yellow gold accents restored, all gemstones professionally checked and secured, and the entire piece carefully cleaned while preserving its original vintage character.

Measuring 61.5 cm (24.2 inches) and weighing 107.5 grams, the necklace drapes beautifully and offers the timeless elegance for which fine Akoya pearl jewellery is celebrated.

Created during the 1950s, this sophisticated necklace combines beautifully matched cultured Akoya pearls with an unusually accomplished emerald and diamond clasp, making it an outstanding example of European mid-century jewellery.
