The centrepiece depicts an entwined serpent in richly coloured translucent red crystal. Meticulously moulded scales and contrasting satin-matt and polished surfaces bring depth and definition to its coiled form, while light passing through the crystal produces vivid crimson highlights.
A substantial brown braided cord frames the neckline, supporting an asymmetric arrangement of articulated gemstone drops. Smooth, polished green aventurine beads contrast beautifully with the deep wine-red garnets, creating a fluid fringe that moves with the wearer. The central cascade extends beneath the serpent, giving the composition an elegant, elongated silhouette. The clasp and extension chain are sterling silver, stamped “925”.
Documented in contemporary coverage from 2008, Lalique’s “Serpent Pierres Fines” collection comprised eight variations, each limited to 188 examples. The edition number referenced Asian good-luck symbolism, while the serpent evoked seduction, wisdom and fertility—an expressive continuation of the natural imagery closely associated with the house.
At approximately 180 grams, this is a substantial and distinctive necklace with considerable presence, equally compelling when worn or displayed as a collectible Lalique creation.
