The necklace is finished with a striking late Victorian clasp, circa 1880–1890, constructed in yellow gold and silver and centred with an oval green cabochon, likely chrysoprase, within a border of 22 old-cut diamonds totalling approximately 0.44 carats. The clasp has the characteristic silver-fronted, gold-backed construction associated with late 19th-century jewellery and gives the necklace a strong antique focal point.

The three later Akoya pearl strands have been carefully matched for tone and lustre, displaying a warm creamy body colour with soft orient and natural variation. Their generous length and substantial total weight give the necklace excellent presence while allowing the antique clasp to sit prominently at the front or side of the neck.

Some of the diamonds show warmer undertones caused by age-related discolouration within the closed silver setting. The stones are not foil-backed, and the setting has been left undisturbed to preserve the original character and construction of the clasp.

A handsome composite jewel combining later Japanese Akoya pearls with a genuine late Victorian clasp, creating a piece with both antique character and strong wearability.
