The flowerhead is centred by a lively cluster of old European and old brilliant-cut diamonds, with further old-cut diamonds punctuating the surrounding stamens. The petals and sweeping foliage are extensively set with antique rose-cut diamonds, creating a beautifully textured surface of light across the entire jewel.
The contrast between the bright old-cut diamonds at the centre and the softer shimmer of the rose cuts is particularly effective. The diamonds are spread across a substantial openwork design, giving the brooch exceptional presence and visual impact when worn.
Crafted principally in silver, with the trombone pin fitting testing as 18-carat gold. The brooch bears French import marks for silver and 18-carat gold, indicating that it was imported into and assayed in France. It was subsequently acquired by us directly in Paris.
The diamonds comprise old European-cut, old brilliant-cut, circular-cut and rose-cut stones, with an estimated total diamond weight of approximately 1.70–1.90 carats. The principal old-cut diamonds are particularly bright and lively, while the numerous rose cuts give excellent spread throughout the petals and foliage.
A beautifully proportioned and highly decorative antique floral jewel, notable for its scale, movement and strong visual presence.
