Large Chinese Hand-Carved Natural Certified Aquamarine Pendant with Pink Tourmaline and Seed Pearls

An impressive large 340 carats carved Aquamarine pendant.

This natural large aquamarine statement pendant, is intricately carved in relief with a phoenix amongst flowering foliage, complemented by a polished pink tourmaline bead and seed pearl accents on a traditional red cord.

The substantial pear-shaped aquamarine displays a vivid blue colour and attractive translucency, with natural internal characteristics visible throughout the stone. The principal face is richly carved with a phoenix surrounded by floral and foliate motifs, while the reverse is more restrained and finely incised with bamboo.

The combination of phoenix, flowers and bamboo is strongly rooted in traditional Chinese decorative symbolism\. The phoenix has long represented virtue, prosperity and renewal, while bamboo is associated with resilience and longevity.

The aquamarine measures approximately 60 x 45 mm and reaches approximately 15 mm at its thickest point, giving the carving considerable depth and sculptural presence.

The pendant is accompanied by GCS (Gemological Certification Services) Report No 5786-3771, confirming the principal carved gemstone as natural aquamarine. The laboratory report records the aquamarine as resin impregnated, which is traditional practice to strengthen the beryl when carved.
