An elegant vintage three-strand Akoya cultured pearl necklace, distinguished by a substantial sculptural amethyst and pearl clasp in 9ct yellow gold, circa 1950s.

The three individually knotted strands comprise 144 Akoya cultured pearls measuring approximately 8 mm on average. Their creamy white body colour displays delicate pink and silver overtones, with bright, reflective lustre that comes beautifully to life in natural light. Arranged in gently staggered lengths of approximately 39, 43 and 46 cm, the strands create a full, balanced drape around the neckline.

The decorative clasp provides a rich contrast of colour and texture. Six oval-cut amethysts surround a central round amethyst bordered by small cultured pearls, while finely textured gold ribbon-like elements radiate between the purple stones. The raised settings and substantial pierced gold backing give the clasp depth and a sculptural presence.

Measuring approximately 2.5 cm long and 1 cm thick, the clasp can be worn towards the front or to the side as a focal point, bringing its floral design into view against the luminous pearl strands. The reverse is stamped “9CT”.
